You have finally decided that it’s time to go to market your business online. That’s the first step!
Design or Redesign Your Website
If you don’t have a website for your company, then you are past due to make one! If your website is outdated, then it’s time to redesign it. If your website isn’t responsive to all devices, then it’s time to make it responsive. Trust your website in the hands of professionals and it will be worth it.
Social Media Set up
Creating pages for your company on several social media sites is vital and free! Don’t focus on too many in the beginning. Pick about three to concentrate your efforts on, such as Facebook, Twitter, and definitely Google Plus. Consider LinkedIn as your fourth site to set up, but only if you and your employees already have a strong presence on LinkedIn.
Hire a content writer or start writing yourself. Content must be interesting and relevant, otherwise if will hurt your image. People would rather read content than see an advertisement and they feel more connected to a company and therefore more likely to make a purchase from them after reading their posts.
If you can market your company through images, consider Pinterest or Instagram as alternative social media sites. These posts should not be blogs unless you pin a picture of a product that leads to a link to a blog.
Consistency
In order to be successful at online marketing, you must be consistent. Remember that quality is more important than quantity so don’t make your goal 3 posts a week if they are all mediocre. One great post a week is better than several mediocre ones.
Use a social media manager such a Hoot Suite to post from all social media sites at once. Don’t post all of your blogs on Facebook and neglect Twitter and Google Plus.
Your voice must also be consistent. If you have multiple content writers, have them collaborate to agree on an approach. People won’t enjoy reading your blogs if each one has a different voice.
You can post more frequently on Pinterest because it shouldn’t all be your original posts of your products. Pinning helpful tips and ideas will create a better image than straight advertising 100% of the time.
Make a Plan
Make a plan to post however many times a week on all social media sites and to check them however many times a week. And stick to it. Write it on your calendar “Write Blog Post” and “Check Social Media.”
Be Receptive
If your posts aren’t getting positive feedback or aren’t getting any feedback, try another approach. Try another voice or different perspectives. When you check your social media sites, see what your customers are saying or aren’t saying. If no one likes them then it’s time for a change. Pay attention to the posts that your audience likes and shares and try to be more like what they are looking for.
You may have to change your approach several times before one works for your company. That is normal, be patient, it will all pay off.
