It is 2019, and many of us believe we have a firm grasp on social media. However, what if I asked you about the percentage of online users who visit Facebook daily? How about, do you know which day of the week is best to send a tweet? Do you know the numbers of consumers who walk away from a company for not having an up to date social media page? Do you still think you have a handle on social media?
Social media has become the focal point of online marketing for two simple reasons: It is where everyone is and allows your business to reach millions of consumers. If you are not mining this valuable resource, spreading the word about your products and company mission is extremely difficult. In fact, in many instances, your social media page is a consumer’s first stop before visiting a business website.
For many companies, especially small and local business, social media marketing is the missing link for connecting with consumers. Social media pages are ideal for attracting new consumers, especially since large percentages of online users utilize social media to identify new products and services. For example, Facebook’s recommend feature empowers users to asks friends and family for the best companies in the area and, when recommended, the company’s Facebook page is automatically linked to the discussion.
Yet, probably more than anything, social media pages are a way to validate your company. An active social media page informs consumers that your business is active and thriving. Some studies have show that as many as 63 percent of consumers are more likely to choose a company with an active social media page. Simply put, your social media presence has become part of a consumer’s evaluation process.
