Discover How to Get More Views of Your Video Content

July 17, 2017General, Marketing, SEOMOTIONBORG

Video content has exploded across the internet. Its popularity is apparent on all social media platforms, not just YouTube. So, it is aggravating when a small business or entrepreneur starts to produce well thought-out video content, but no one watches. If you experienced this frustration, you are not alone. A lack of video views is an issue that many marketers experience, leaving them wondering “What did I do wrong?” Today’s article lists some of the common and typical issues that create this problem.

On YouTube alone, there are 3.25 billion hours of video content uploaded every month. That is a lot of competition. However, most of these videos will never “go viral”. Regardless, most marketers’ goal is for a just a few thousand or even hundred views by their target audience. A few strategy changes are typically all that is needed to receive an immediate boost in viewership.

  1. Keep the Videos Short – Based on study findings published on HubSpot, “Nearly two-thirds of consumers prefer video under 60 seconds.” In fact, because people’s attention spans are so limited, the shorter you can make the video, the better.
  2. Understand Your Customers – A common shortcoming is simply producing video content your audience is not interested in. Many companies create the content that they want, rather than the content their audience wants to watch.
  3. You Are Uploading to the Wrong Channel – When it comes to video content, YouTube is the website that immediately comes to mind. However, since Facebook is the most popular social media website, it may be the better choice for your videos.
  4. Transcribe Your Videos – The ability to distribute and re-purpose content will add to its value. One method of doing that is by embedding the video into a blog post along with a full transcription. This can make it easier for some people to watch, and it can also increase search traffic.
  5. Make Sure the Videos “Sound Like” You – A key aspect of branding is providing a consistent customer experience. It is important that your video content lines up well with your company’s declared mission, core principles, and values.
